The German Society for Inherited Metabolic Disorders (Gesellschaft für angeborene Stoffwechselstörungen, GfAS) promotes projects by awarding research grants and is announcing a grant of €25,000 for the year 2024. The deadline for receipt of applications by the Society’s Board is June 30, 2024.
Applications should be sent digitally (as a PDF file) to the Chairperson and the Co-Chairperson of the Society.
The project to be funded should correspond to the objectives of the Society. In this context, clinical trials, basic scientific and translational cooperative studies on inherited metabolic disorders and quality controls of laboratory methods are eligible for funding, as are projects that promote young scientists, provide further training for physicians, or serve to advise physicians, nursing staff, authorities, and the public. Clinically oriented projects have priority.

Structure of the application:
- Introduction, presentation of the facts
- Content & Objective, clinical / scientific relevance of the study, own preliminary work and scientific environment
- Patients / Methods / Statistics / Ethics Committee
- Duration / cost plan / use of the requested funding (personnel, equipment, other materials)
- Bibliography (max. 20 references)
Scope: Total scope of the application (without curriculum vitae and list of publications): maximum 10 pages
Language: German or English
Form: Please ensure clarity and good readability, as this will facilitate the review process and thus improve your chances of a positive evaluation.
