Future. \nAt this anniversary event of our society\, we will look back on our activities of recent years to improve the care and treatment of patients with inborn errors of metabolism. \nOver all these years\, metabolic medicine has developed significantly\, with almost 2000 inborn errors of metabolism known today\, new genetic diagnostic and treatment methods\, and an incidence of more than 1:1000 newborns affected by an inborn error of metabolism. \nThis year\, the annual meeting will have a different structure than in recent years. We would like to provide an overview of new diseases\, as well as new developments in diagnostics and treatment from the last 2-3 years. These disorders\, like Phenylketonuria\, Alkaptonuria and Hepatorenal Tyrosinaemia belong to the long-known ‘classical’ inborn errors of metabolism. Nevertheless\, the pathophysiology of these disorders is incompletely understood\, new aspects of pathophysiological processes underlying these diseases will be presented. There are new and novel therapeutic options available for the benefit of patients suffering from these disorders. Our international faculty including clinicians\, nutritional specialists and scientists will discuss these therapies. Data on newborn screening for tyrosinaemia in Germany and its impact on outcome will be shown. Recently\, guidelines were developed for both PKU and tyrosinaemia\, which will be presented.
